A Little Bit About Me...

I'm Chris Smith.  I was born and raised here in Raleigh, NC.  I've had an interest in art and drawing since the 2nd grade.  I took Advanced Placement Art in high school and went on to a 2-year college program in Commercial Art and Advertising Design. 

It was good experience, but I found commercial art really isn't me.  I like hands-on illustration... kids' books being a strong interest.  I love kids.  My first mural was a nursery for a friend's newborn.  I painted 2 scenes from Beatrix Potter's 'Peter Rabbit' on the nursery room wall, and I knew right away this was something I could get into.  I suppose I love cartoon work and kids' work, being that I'm a big kid myself.
